The Firefighter Work was introduced in the “A Safehouse in the Hills” update released on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, and is a Freemode Job that was unlocked with the weekly update on January 29, 2026.

Requirements:
When attempting Firefighter Work for the first time, you must visit the Los Santos Fire Station in El Burro Heights to become a volunteer firefighter.
You must not be a member of an Organization or Motorcycle Club.
You must not be in Passive Mode.
You must not have a Wanted level.
How to Start:
Firefighter Work can be started from the Los Santos Fire Station in El Burro Heights.
You can also start it while inside an owned Fire Truck or Riot Control Vehicle (RCV) by pressing the R3 button (PC: B key). Firefighter Work cannot be started from non-owned Fire Truck.
If the Los Santos Fire Station icon (shown below) is not displayed on the map, check whether Firefighter Work is hidden in the Map Blip Options. You can enable it via:
Interaction Menu → Preferences → Map Blip Options → Odd Jobs → Firefighter Work

If No Destination Prompt Is Displayed

If you start the job but no destination prompt appears, it is likely because Freemode Work are hidden in the Map Blip Options.

Interaction Menu → Preferences → Map Blip Options → Rival Gameplay → Freemode Work

Job Details

Become a firefighter and respond to rescue operations and fire suppression activities.

  • The first time you attempt Firefighter Work, you must visit the Los Santos Fire Station in El Burro Heights to become a volunteer firefighter.
  • From the second time onward, you can start Firefighter Work by pressing the R3 button (PC: hold the B key) while inside an owned Fire Truck or Riot Control Vehicle (RCV).
  • Firefighter Work cannot be started from non-owned (NPC) Fire Trucks.
  • Each Firefighter Work job consists of a total of five deployments.
  • If the Fire Truck is destroyed or you gain a Wanted level, the job will immediately end.
  • Be careful when driving a Fire Truck, as running over pedestrian NPCs will quickly give you a Wanted level. The “Knockdown” Award only counts once per full job (all 5 dispatches completed), so if you get a Wanted level and the job ends early, it will not be counted.
  • At gas leak locations, your Health will drain unless you equip a mask.
  • You can end the job at any time by holding the Triangle button (PC: hold the F key).
  • During fire suppression, keep an eye on the gauge displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This gauge indicates the fire suppression progress; if the gauge is not decreasing, your water spray is not hitting the fire.
  • You can also tell whether the water is hitting the flames by the sound. When the water stream is properly hitting the fire, you will hear a distinct splashing sound.

There are five different job patterns in total. Each pattern has 10 possible locations, for a total of 50 job locations.

Vehicle Fire

Vehicle Fire
  • El Burro 15, we have reports of smoke, visible flames, possible traffic accident. Standby for coordinates.
  • This is a vehicular fire, civilians posing a possible threat to life. You should have the location now.
  • We have an outdoor fire, one car fully involved, potential spread. We need that fire knocked down. Sending coordinates.

Three vehicles—Jackal, Asea, and Blade—are involved in a multi-vehicle accident and have caught fire. Head to the scene and extinguish the flames. There are 10 locations in total, all following the same scenario.

During fire suppression, keep an eye on the gauge displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This gauge indicates the fire suppression progress; if the gauge is not decreasing, your water spray is not hitting the fire. You can also tell whether the water is hitting the flames by the sound. When the water stream is properly hitting the fire, you will hear a distinct splashing sound.

House Fire

  • El Burro 15, we've had reports of smoke at the following location. Please investigate.
  • El Burro 15, we've had a confirmation. A resident is in the building. This is now a rescue operation. I repeat, this is now a rescue operation.
  • El Burro 15, do you copy? A civilian has been spotted in the building. Get them out, but only when it is safe to do so.
  • El Burro 15, an adult has been reported inside the residence. We do not know if they are conscious. Extinguish all flames and get them out of there.
  • Okay, we're getting reports of a structural fire, visible flames. Unconfirmed whether there are persons at risk. I'm sending you the property's address.
  • We have a fire currently contained to one housing unit. Prepare for a potential rescue. Coordinates should be with you now.

A house is on fire, so head to the scene and extinguish the flames. There are 10 locations in total. In 3 of them, you only need to extinguish the fire. In the remaining 7 locations, after the fire is put out, information comes in that residents are still inside, and the job is upgraded to a rescue operation. For rescue operations, enter the building, locate the collapsed resident, pick them up, carry them outside, and place them on the ambulance stretcher to complete the task.

Prop Fire

Property Fire
  • LSPD received a call, passed it our way. Possible dumpster fire. El Burro 15, please investigate.
  • Okay, looks like a classic dumpster fire. Please investigate, and ensure all hot spots are cooled. Sending coordinates now.
  • We have reports of a large fire, calls suggest an oil tanker involved, condition currently unknown. Please attend at the following location.
  • This is an emergency, one oil tanker involved, extreme caution advised. Sending you the location.
  • We have an incident involving an oil tanker with calls for an emergency response to repress all flames. Coordinates are with you now.

Dumpsters or tankers are on fire, so head to the scene and extinguish the flames. There are 10 locations in total. Although tankers may appear similar to Vehicle Fires, they are internally treated as Property Fires. All Vehicle Fire patterns involve multi-vehicle accidents with the Jackal, Asea, and Blade.

Cat Rescue

  • El Burro 15, you've been called for civilian assistance. We're looking at a domestic animal in distress. Coords are with you now.
  • Okay, we have a dangerous situation. This is life-threatening. El Burro 15, this is life-threatening for the cat. Please attend this location.
  • El Burro 15, you are cleared for a feline technical rescue at these coordinates. Good luck.

Rescue cats that have fled to rooftops or other hard-to-reach places and return them to their owners. When the job starts, a cat icon will appear on the map. Locate and rescue the cat. There are 10 locations in total.

Gas Leak

  • This is a utility emergency. El Burro 15, Sending you the location now. Please proceed immediately and with extreme caution.
  • We have had reports of a gas leak at the following location. Be aware there is potential for exposure, so special equipment may be required.
  • This is an odor investigation, suspected gas leak. Civilians are being evacuated. Location details should be with you now.

A gas leak has occurred, so locate the pressure valve and stop the leak. The pressure valve is located near the leaking pipeline. Entering the gas without a mask will cause your health to decrease. There are 10 locations in total.




Rewards

Rewards

  • Completing one dispatch rewards you with $7,500 and 250 RP. Since one job consists of five dispatches, completing all of them rewards a total of $37,500 and 1,250 RP.
  • Your Reward is reduced based on completion time. The reduction starts 120 seconds after the job begins, decreasing by $375 every 60 seconds. However, it will not drop below $3,750. In short, you must complete the job within two minutes to receive the full reward. From 2 to 10 minutes, the reward is reduced every minute, and after 10 minutes, the reduction stops.
  • Completing all five dispatches for the first time (finishing one full job) unlocks a discount for the Fire Truck. ※1
  • Completing 25 Firefighter Works unlocks the “The Unwavering Outfit”. This means completing a total of 25 dispatches, or five full jobs.

※1: The Fire Truck discount previously required completing the Diamond Casino Heist Finale. A new requirement has been added: completing Firefighter Work five times in a row. Meeting either requirement will unlock the discount.
